A Ritual For Midsummer
Midsummer Ritual
By Golden-Light of The Mystic Moon
Before the Ritual, Make up a small cloth pouch filled with herbs such as lavender, chamomile, St. John's Wort, vervain or any of the Midsummer herbs.
Mentally pour all your troubles, pains, sorrows and illnesses, if any, into the bag of herbs as you construct it and tie it with a red string or ribbon.
It is also a time for the blessing of animals so have a representation (such as a photograph) of the animal, a gift for it or the animal it's self to receive the blessing
Items Needed:
Red Candle (in addition to your red "South" candle)
Cauldron (or other fire proof container)
your bag of herbs
Chalice of Holy Water
Athame (or wand)
the animal (or representation of it)

Blessed be this season of Midsummer. The Sun rides at His peak in the skies above. The Goddess is heavy with pregnancy. Today I celebrate the light, for tomorrow that light will wane. Today I acknowledge the end of the waxing year, and the beginning of the wanting time.
<Take your athame and raise it before you pointing up>
Farewell the waxing year,
Season of fertility and growth.
Farewell the lusty spring
And the time of planting.
<make the sign of the banishing pentagram>
Welcome the waning year,
Season of harvest and wisdom.
Welcome the bounty of autumn.
<make the sign of the invoking pentagram>
I celebrate the noon of summer with mystic rites.
Oh great Goddess and God,
All nature vibrates with your energies
And the Earth is bathed with warmth and life.
Now is the time for releasing past cares and banes;
Now is the time for purification.
Oh fiery Sun,
burn away the unuseful,
the hurtful,
the bane,
in your omnipotent power.

<return the athame to the altar and pick up your bag of herbs. Light the bag in the flame from the red candle and place it into the cauldron>
I banish you by the powers of the Goddess and God!
I banish you by the powers of the Sun, the Moon and the Stars!
I banish you by the powers of Air , Fire, Water and Earth!
<as the bag burns, watch your problems turn to ash as it does. Feel the release from the cares and worries>

On this Morn of Midsummer Magic,
I Ask that you charge my life with
Wonder and Joy!
Assist me in attuning with the
Energies adrift on the enchanted morning breeze.
To thee I give thanks!
<bring forth the animal to be blessed and pass the athame over it clockwise three times>
I bless you <state the animal's name or function>, with health, strength and well-being.
<replace the athame and dip your fingers into the chalice of Holy Water. Place your hand on to the animal>
I bless you <state the animal's name or function>, with fertility, love, security and peace. May you live a long happy life.
What is man without Beasts
If all the Beasts were gone,
